Atprotocol.dev and promoting to devs

From focusing just on devs to broadening to “community”, we actually do want to take on some dev-centric promotion, too!

I posted about this to Tierney @bnb.im

And I keep cc’ing @brittanyellich.com because we talked about her using the @atprotocol.dev handle, but also she is kind of busy doing that generally for her day job at Bluesky! (she is using it for an Open Social Group that you can join).

As part of some ongoing clean up, I swapped out the atprotocol.dev domain (which is the old Ghost blog, which is now https://blog.atmosphere.community with the content imported) and pointed it at Blento https://atprotocol.dev.

Those are just sort of tasks, though.

What does it look like to promote to devs who aren’t already inside the atproto bubble?

Getting started. Highlighting SDKs / languages.

I think we really do need to get off Discord so we can have a managed and welcoming space (and I’ve written about that).

Make a list of global conferences and seeing who can go atproto-pill present at them.

Yes, many have given their +1 … few have signed up for the working group to figure out what’s next :stuck_out_tongue:

not asking you to volunteer, just pointing at the write up of what the scope of a working group would be to take this on

@danabra.mov has been killing it on the podcast circuit. That’s had a high conversion rate of bringing in devs with their own communities in different domains. More folks doing stuff like that and what @jason.energy are doing will help.

With the spaces alpha out (and with coding agents being what they are) I think it may be time to update the statusphere tutorial. I’ve got some ideas on that front and may work on something in a few weeks.

I’d also be interested in helping with a “Space(s) Jam” for people to build stuff. I know it’s kinda happening already but something we can promote broadly would be cool.

Feels like a great idea! Next “bigger” event if I look at the calendar → https://atmosphere.community/events is IETF127 in San Francisco in November.

That’s 3 months away, but I wonder what some online only (weekly? every other week?) show and tell of spaces/groups stuff would look like. Shared coworking (work on spaces stuff together). Demos. Interop.

The IETF in SF has two days of hackathon and would be good for those going in person. That’s a separate topic that someone needs to get organizing.
