Hi! I’m starting a regional atproto community for New Bedford / South Coast Massachusetts.

Requested subdomain: southcoast.atmosphere.community
Goal: ATProto South Coast MA is a local learning and community group for New Bedford and the South Coast. The goal is to help people understand and use atproto, Bluesky, decentralized social apps, local feeds, community lists, and open social web tools.

One thing that might be a courtesy is to call it southcoastma or something like that as there are other south coasts out there. Otherwise glad to see another regional group pop up!

Yeah I tried to do southcoastma for the bsky.social handle but it was too many characters. I considered doing newbedford to be specific to the commuter rail line stop but I also didn’t want it to sound like it would exclude others if someone from fall river came up. I will absolutely have it mentioned in the name itself, and bio! Should bsky ever increase handle char count, I’ll update it there, too.
