We’re looking for a program lead to join us for AtmosphereConf 2027 (29 Apr - 2 May, Netherlands).
Ms Boba (@essentialrandom.bsky.social) and I are co-content leads, and we need someone to help us chair the Content Committee. This is a volunteer role, but it does comes with a free ticket.
The core of the job is about balance: you’d help keep the program steady across different tracks, topics, and places; ensure the review rounds stay on schedule; help us pick the main-stage talks; and work on the schedule together with Ms Boba and me.
We organize the program in circles (sociocracy): basically small groups with a clear aim where we make decisions by consent.
The Content Committee is our main content circle (Ms Boba, me, the program lead + one contact from each track), and each of the 4 tracks have their own circle.
The program lead is a member of the Content Committee and of all 4 track circles: you’d carry what the committee decides into the tracks, while the track contacts carry what the tracks need back. It’s a two-way link… you can read more about how this works here: Sociocracy For All
If you’re interested, reply here with your name and one or two lines on why you’re up for it (self-nominations are totally fine). If you’d rather not be public about it, just DM me or Ms Boba on the forum or Bluesky.
Timeline for the process:
- Nominations open until Sun 15 Nov (we pushed this back a week to give people outside the current committee a chance to jump in).
- Mon 16 Nov: we’ll post the list of nominees + reasons here.
- Objections open until Sun 22 Nov (we’re working on a “good enough for now, safe enough to try” consent model here).
- Review point: after CfP round 1 (11 Jan).
Until then, Ms Boba and I are covering the role.
PS: we also need track members. We have four tracks and are aiming for 3-5 people each; members get a free ticket too. The work involves reviewing talks in your specific track, scouting speakers, and making sure sessions run smoothly on-site.
- Govern: moderation, trust & safety, community governance, privacy and permissioned data/Spaces, public sector, regulation and policy.
- Create: art, music, writing, games, fandom, creator businesses, internet culture
- Build: apps, infrastructure, protocol, developer tooling
- Inform: journalism, media, publishing, newsletters, podcasts, science communication
To join a track, reply here with the track name and one line on what you’d bring. We’ll add you to the Content Committee forum group. Same deadline: Sun 15 Nov.
If you’d rather just give a talk than help run the show, the CfP round 1 closes 30 Nov: cfp.atmosphereconf.org
(And no, if you join the content committee AND send in your CfPs you can’t vote on your own talks
)
