Askimut: little portable AMA app

Hey there! I think my side project is about to be useable. It’s a little “ask me anything”, that’s supposed to work across the site itself, bluesky, your website. Features are:

  • You can answer many questions with the same answer
  • You can answer with a bluesky or standard.site link
  • You can mark bsky threads as “AMA” roots so that they appear in askimut too
  • widgets to have AMA in your website (WIP, should work but I have to test a bit more)

A few things that are clearly out of the scope: multiowner thread (à la conference, company etc.), timed thread or multiple thread/categories. I just really want to focus on personal AMA inbox as of now.

There are a few things I’m not sure of just yet. First is the ability to explore. I don’t if people will really “browse” askimut, I’m thinking it’s more from links from bsky, site etc. Second is more generic questions/answer lexicon? I didn’t find any, but happy to use something more standard, I’m sure there are people working on stuff stackoverflow likes etc.

Anyways, here it is :

And with test accounts: Askimut , Askimut and code etienneburdet.com/askimut at main · Tangled

If a few people want to poke around and break it, that would help a ton! :folded_hands: It’s good fun learning all these stuff though, the number of back and forth I had to put on this “syncing to the atmosphere” badge is way more than I care to admit :joy: Glad to hear what you think!

Welcome Etienne! Sounds like a great app, the answer with a link is cool. Hmm. Kind of makes me think about a modern FAQ builder.

Cheers! FAQ builder, that’s interesting, I didn’t saw it that way but I could see how it works. My main inspirations were basically what Daniel Roe or Sam Rose are running
